Live on the Patio: Disaster Passport Plays Koyaanisqatsi

“I was knocked out by the creative audacity of Disaster Passport.” -Marc Eisen in his ISTHMUS “Best Live Shows of 2020..”
Disaster Passport is a 4-piece instrumental ensemble based in Madison. Composing alone and together, the band has written a new music score for the 1983 art film, “Koyaanisqatsi.” The film’s original score was by New York avant garde composer Philip Glass. The band will perform it’s score to a live screening of the movie outside on the patio on Wednesday night, October 6. The film’s title is a Hopi Indian word for “life out of balance.” There’s no dialogue or narration. Using images of nature as well as urban settings, Director Godfrey Reggio and cinematographer Ron Frike set out to show the tenuous relationship between humans and the planet they inhabit. The unique performance has exhilarated audiences in limited performances in Madison and Viroqua. This will be their only Fall performance of the film. Under the stars!
